Legal Training Service:
Expert Training for Executive Staffs at Home and Overseas

Interactive Seminars –
Catastrophes 101

Interactive SeminarsOlsen & Brown conducts one-day to four-day on-site interactive training seminars with no more than ten persons in each session. Curricula include examination of real cases from the perspective of what went wrong, and the resultant harm to employer and employee. The depiction of catastrophic scenarios advances preventative measures and teaches resolution of the most basic conflicts. Executive students learn to recognize, focus upon and address pre-litigious patterns before anyone sees the need to run to the lawyers.

Training includes legalistic training for in-house counsel and parallel training for HR (human resource) managers – and teaching of both to deal with ego, territoriality and professional interaction difficulties. Examination of the "troubled" or "troublesome" employee with a view toward providing avenues that keep the employee as a valuable and valued member of the company, rather than a cancerous intrusion into the well-being of the corporation. Creating more satisfied employees proud of the product they are creating or the service they are providing. Resolving discrimination issues at the outset for the well–being of employees and managers over the long term. Pitfalls for both are highlighted.

Overseas Seminars –
Blind-sided 101

overseas legal seminarsOlsen & Brown conducts seminars in London, Italy (two cities), Cancun and New Dehli for corporate overseas operations – and for two alternative strategies. The first is to focus on the personnel-related pitfalls of outsourcing to nations with indigenous laws that apply to indigenous workers, and American laws that may or may not apply to American managers abroad. Particular attention is paid to managerial agreements to relocate (often with families) to new cultures with novel governmental and local interaction. "Managing foreigners" today is tougher than it was when the British were being run out of India.

Increasing productivity and loyalty through the application of American common sense to foreign–grown customs and mores. Examination of discrimination or "life style" issues in multiple cultures with a view toward advancing a corporate model that places everyone on the same page with the same goals. Creating a system that encourages commitments and admiration of aggressive cross-cultural achievement in business, managing indigenous managers, and viewing the landscape the way they do, considering their aspirations, sensitivities, power structures, and cultural nuances. Again, and as always, pitfalls to avoid.

Overseas Seminars –
Carrot 101 thru 501

londonOlsen & Brown also conducts vacation seminars in special exotic locations, including Vail, Cancun, London, Rome, and Venice. Consideration is also being given to Prague in the near future. These four-day seminars are not dissimilar to regular on-site seminars, and are no less intense and challenging.

romeWhen the end of the day of proactive brainstorming of employment issues means dinner with a spouse along the Grand Canal or in Campo dei Fiori, or along the Thames, there is no limit to the creative accomplishment that is possible. There is also no little benefit from learning the cultural personalities of the host countries – the exuberance of the Italians for example or the courtesy of the British. Managers return with stronger and healthier relationships with their Boards, colleagues, and career paths, not to mention their own spouses. These seminars are also used as corporate rewards for special executives.
